About MSSTA
The Manitoba Social Science Teachers’ Association (MSSTA) is a non-profit organization run by members who volunteer their time year-round to make MSSTA a reality.
As an umbrella organization of the Manitoba Teachers' Society (MTS), most of our membership is composed of teachers, but we are fortunate to have members who are retired teachers, pre-service teachers, Department of Education consultants, museum professionals, and contributors/employees of popular national history and geography magazines.
MSSTA’s major yearly event is the hosting of the Social Studies Special Area Group of Educators (SAGE) conference each October on MTS Professional Development (PD) Day. MSSTA offers its members dozens of sessions to choose from each year on the annual 1-day provincial professional development day.
Throughout the year, MSSTA also overs outreach events and stays actively involved in all things related to social studies education in the province of Manitoba.
MSSTA is also a founding member of the Social Studies Network of Canada - Réseau pour l'enseignement des sciences sociales du Canada (SSENC/RESSC) that advocates for social studies education across Canada.
