MSSTA is very proud to provide social science educators from across the province of Manitoba with high quality professional development. Though our largest event is our yearly participation in the Manitoba Teachers' Society's Professional Development Day in October, we will also host other events and opportunities throughout the year.

He has been recognized by Yes Magazine as a Climate Hero and is featured as one of ten international human rights defenders in the National Canadian Museum for Human Rights. He has campaigned across Canada, Alaska and the lower 48 states organizing in hundreds of First Nations, Alaska Native and Native American communities to support Indigenous Peoples to defend their territories against the encroachment of the fossil fuel industry with a special focus on stopping the expansion of the Canadian tar sands and its associated pipelines. Clayton is an award winning film director, media producer, organizer, facilitator, public speaker and bestselling author on Indigenous rights and environmental & economic justice. His book, Life in the City of Dirty Water, was a national bestseller and a CBC Canada Reads finalist.
We are looking forward to working with our partners, Educators for Climate Action Manitoba (ECAMB), and encourage those interested in Climate Action to apply to present or display at our conference. We also welcome educators and organizations who are interested in sharing their best practices or resources in the areas of inquiry, collaborative learning strategies, land-based learning, and more, in all areas of the Social Sciences. This year, teachers who apply and are accepted to present at our PD Day will receive their conference fees paid for both this year AND next year's conference, and will also receive an $75 honorarium in the form of a gift card to a local business!
