Inquiry, Equity and Engagement: Teaching History & Social Studies in 2021
How are we responding to unprecedented challenges in education? How do we provide a more inclusive curriculum? How are we engaging students in authentic inquiry?
The Manitoba Social Science Teachers Association (MSSTA) along with the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and the Social Studies Educators Network of Canada (SSENC) and our partners the Ontario History and Social Science Teachers Association (OHASSTA), the Alberta Teachers’ Association Social Studies Council (ATASSC) and Thinking Historically for Canada’s Future will present an online conference October 21-23, 2021.
The conference will include two keynote speakers, over 40 live and pre-recorded panels and presentations featuring teachers and leading academics, researchers, and others from NGOs and educational organizations as well as an interactive virtual exhibitor room.

This year's event will take place over 3 days:
Thursday, October 21 (evening):
- An evening that includes a keynote from Dr. Sean Lessard from the University of Alberta (click here for more info on Dr. Lessard)
- An online "social" that provides you with the opportunity to meet with fellow social studies teachers from across the country.
- A keynote address by Dr. Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair from the University of Manitoba (click here for more info on Dr. Sinclair)
- 20 different concurrent sessions on a wide variety of social studies topics focused on "Inquiry, Equity, and Engagement"
- Facilitated resource sharing sessions
- A morning of PD facilitated by the Critical Thinking Consortium (sponsored by the Alberta Teachers' Association Social Studies Council)
